Appalachian Symphony Orchestra and Treble Choir: The Planets
Friday, February 27, 8:00 p.m. - The Schaefer Center
Free Admission, no ticket needed.
The Appalachian Symphony Orchestra performs Holst's monumental masterpiece, The Planets, accompanied by stunning planetary imagery assembled by NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. The orchestra will be joined by the Treble Choir (Dr. Priscilla Porterfield, director) for a musical journey through the solar system as Holst utilizes an orchestra of epic proportions and colors to depict the personalities of the Roman gods after which the planets were named, including the martial rhythms of "Mars," the joyful melodies of "Jupiter," and the ethereal beauty of "Neptune."
