The Hayes School of Music presents a captivating violin–piano recital featuring faculty artists Dr. Pedro Maia, violin, and Dr. Christina Lai, piano. The nature-inspired program includes the lyrical beauty of Violin Sonata No. 1 by Johannes Brahms, often called the “Rain Sonata” for its gentle, pastoral character, the impressionistic Violin Sonata by Claude Debussy, a work rich in color and atmosphere and Okjökull Requiem by Roger Zare, a powerful contemporary reflection on the loss of Iceland’s Okjökull glacier, blending artistry and environmental awareness in a moving tribute to nature.
