Everyday Psychology: What Does Resilience Look Like?

What does resilience look like in our day-to-day lives? In our second dialogue within the Everyday Psychology Initiative hosted by the Department of Psychology, three panelists highlight how resiliency shapes their own research and work across a variety of psychologically oriented disciplines. Together, we hope this conversation will motivate thoughtful and engaged dialogue on the types of infrastructure and support needed in a community for people to withstand life's challenges.

Panelists:

  • Sarah Donovan is the program coordinator in the Department of Social Work and has significant experience working with and advocating for immigrant families in the High Country.
  • Claire Parson is a current graduate student in the IO/HRM program of the Department of Psychology. Her thesis work examines how workplace dynamics can influence choices around disclosure and concealment for employees with invisible disabilities and how that is associated with important outcomes, like authenticity.
  • Joe Wang is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology's School Psychology program. His experience with exposure therapy, refugee student needs, and the use of mindfulness in school settings will provide a unique perspective.

This event — free and open to the public — will be held on Wednesday, April 15, from 12 to 1 p.m. in Smith Wright Hall 200.
